Impact Training & Consulting is a rapidly growing organization supporting people and businesses in Calgary and surrounding areas in Southern Alberta including Airdrie, Cochrane, Okotoks, Strathmore, Chestermere, High River and Lethbridge, to achieve a higher level of success in life and work through training and consultation in hard/soft skills and competency growth. Impact Houses three main areas of expertise: First Aid Courses, Information Technology Training and Consulting, and Customized Corporate Training Facilitation. Employing individuals, that are not only professionals in the industry, but that have passion, experience and strong teaching skills.

It is our end goal to make every learning experience a positive, and have every participant leave the classroom with empowerment, encouragement, and competency in the skills they have come to us to learn. By understanding that not everyone learns the same and there is variance in even how each generation of people see and interpret the world around them we are better able to create safe working environments where the learner is given the power to utilize and become successful in the tools needed to be masters in a life-work balance.

Impact has been around a long time. We started off small and have grown and adapted along the way.  This is how I got my start. Putting myself through school by teaching First Aid Courses and CPR courses, I realized I had a passion for teaching. I saw a gap in industry of quality training by people that had a passion to teach, but rather experts in a field that were paid to lecture others on the hard skills of their trade. Having sat through countless training courses, seminars and lectures and sermons where I left with a fuzzy head and wondering what on earth just happened for the last hour (that felt like 3) not being able to take any tangible skills with me that I could practice and master; I thought to myself, there had to be a better way. Then a friend spoke to me about a course that he took on Learner Centered Training. Where the emphasis is not put on the speaker and how awesome they are, but the learner and how important they are, and that they come to the environment with more knowledge about the subject than they already know. It’s the role of the facilitator to help hone, strengthen and support those understandings, and develop additional truths and skills in the area of what they seek to learn. I took that information and began researching teaching and facilitation skills to develop within myself the ability to become an expert in the field of teaching and training.

Today, while I don’t consider myself to be a master, I am good at what I do. I care about my business and I care about others. I want to make sure that every person I interact with, especially in a training environment leaves by being impacted by something I’ve been able to impart to them. I look forward to opportunity to have impact on you.

I have a passion for teaching and training people in new skills. With a background in counselling/psychology, public speaking, people management and skill development facilitation, I have strong skills in assessing and understanding how, what and why people are learning.  By engaging the student with the learning process and incorporating entertaining, thought provoking and even humorous activities I help bolster confidence by strengthening competence.

Instructors

All of our instructors are certified in their field of expertise. Canadian Red Cross Instructors and Certified Information Technology Professionals all have loads of teaching experience under their belts. We employ instructors who follow our belief of creating a high impact training environment for you and your staff.
